old yellow flex-cote :-(

i have an old custom rod and the flex-cote finish yellowed. will a light sanding and recoating of new flexcote make it shine again? thanks for any info

Hi Anthony.

Is the blank in question white? Epoxy discolors over time. The sun is the culprit. Unfortunately it show up on the white blanks/rods. That is probably why most rods are black.

After cleaning the entire rod, you can abrade the finish using a Scotchbtite pad, clean again with 91% isoprporyl alcohol and apply a coat of epoxy.

The new finish will shine but I think you will still see the yellowish glo.
