Thanks for sharing the info guys.

It's more like a Square 4 gal pail. 2-galons is about 10 dozen so depending on the size of the crabs I'd say 18-20 dozen.

Are you calling a square 4 gallon x-chum bucket a half or quarter bushel? When I buy a half bushel of skimmer clams, I am usually given a 4 gal bucket plus a few extra. One bushel is officially (so I have been told) about 9.3 liquid gallons.

I have fished for tog with a quarter bushel before but never bothered to count. They usually come in a mesh bag. Hard to relate to bucket size. It is usually more than enough for a couple of guys to fish for the day.

Just a thought....

Regarding tackle shops, I suggest that some of the doubters try owning one. First off the long hours, next weather..... Imagine in your line of work, rainy days equal no money..... Then of course there is the seasonal aspect of the business.......

Twelve months of rent, insurance and utilities for only 6 months(maybe) of business. Then of course the failing fish stocks. When the opening weekend used to be St. Patty's now it's not even worth opening till at least the second week of April. So I suggest that all the people that complain should own a shop for a while, then maybe you can really find a reason to belly ache........

Just a thought.

I REMOVED THE BUCKET DOUBLE CHECKED IT WAS MINE (NO DOUBT) AND SINCE THE CRABS WEREN'T MINE OPENED HIS BILGE HATCH AND "STORED" THEM IN THERE FOR HIM SO THEY WOULDN'T GET AWAY.
HEY YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF GREENIE'S THESE DAYS? HE HE HE

LMAO Billy!!! You should have thrown some racks in there too so the poor guys wouldn't starve:):)

Aquarius,
I've been selling the crabs about 3" from the top of the 4 gal pail for $20.00 If I wanted to make money I'd be a Politician!!
But seriously if you trap your own you can drop the price on the larger quantitys, there are plenty of people who still want 1-3 dozen crabs cause they are only fishing for a couple of hours. I guess fishing and catching are still diffrent.
