Penn Slammer

The Penn Slammer series of reels are of high quality, well balanced, sturdy, unlimited antireverse, I have been useing them for a while and am very happy with the performance. Like almost any outher reel out there, you gotta rinse them, and regrease them if they get dunked.
The 9500 is too big for a 7' rod, before you invest money in an ss model do yourself a favor and go to the local tackle shop and feel the way the slammers spin, once again they are really good stuff.

Good luck

Why get a slammer when the live-liner is $10 more?

In total agreement on the slammer reels - great drags, compact and solid, but the live-liners only run you $10-15 more and are exactly the same, with the addition of free-spool ability. Free-spooling spinning reels kick ass for baiting stripers/blues, no sense getting cheap on the last $10, go all the way.
