Anything that gets eaten by something can be used for killy/spearing bait.
Anything from various breads, rolls, bagels, etc, to old fish carcasses. Check your fridge for anything going to be thrown out. It will work.

I think if you put caviar in the trap you will get a better class of killies/spearing.
No really for as long as I've been at this it's always been bread and put the trap a few feet below the water line or boat. If you put the trap in the water even without bread they will come.

This week we caught big spearing using caviar, Dah. First week we caught nice size spearing for snapper bait and caught a lot of them using sardines. gave up on killie trap for now,
