Glenlivet Manhattan Cup

6th Annual Glenlivet CCA Manhattan Cup
On Friday, May 21, 2004 the Manhattan and Staten Island Chapters of the Coastal Conservation Association of New York (CCA) will host their sixth annual “catch and release” striped bass tournament.  The Glenlivet CCA Manhattan Cup consists of approximately thirty area professional fishing guides who provide their boats and expertise to thirty individual teams competing for the largest striped bass, bluefish and weakfish among three categories (fly, artificial and bait).  In addition, a “sport fishing” division involving private boats and crews will also compete.  The boats will sail at 1:00 PM from the Chelsea Piers and return at 7:30 PM.  A catered party, including open bar, food, awards ceremony, raffles and auction will immediately follow at the Chelsea Brewing Company, located at Pier 59 on the Hudson River.  The awards party is open to the public.  Last year’s event hosted 100 participants who caught and released over 100 striped bass, bluefish and weakfish.  The largest bass weighed over 35 pounds.  To volunteer as a captain or be part of the tournament staff, contact Capt. Frank Crescitelli, (917) 468-4817.
