Ok I was doing sheetrock work in my attic(building my new lab

)
And my screw gun slipped and went through my thumb nail and right out the other side

.
I pretty much stopped the bleeding and bandaged it up.

Now should I go to the hospital for a shot?

did you have to put the screwgun in reverse and unscrew the screw from your finger....if you had a recent tetnis shot you should be fine.....was the finger attached to the joist,,that must have hurt

Ice it down and keep it on ice.

If you have some antibiotics around, start taking them between meals, about 500 mg per dose three time a day.

Keep it clean and wait for it to turn black, then it will come off pretty easy.

Orrrrr if you have good insurance call the WAMBULANCE!!!!!!

I was going to clean it with whiskey but my wife stopped me.
Now she is yelling at me cause she called my brother in law up that is a carpenter and the samething happened to him and he went for the shot. My last shot was 1992.

Unless your drill bit was rusty you will be ok, if there was rust on ot....call the wammmmbulance.

It was the drill bit that actually slipped while I was holding the 2x4 in place and went through my nail and out the other side.
The bit was pretty new does that count??
I have very good insurance but I dont want to waste my time in the dam emergency room.

Tony it sounds like it just went thru your Lee press on nail you will be fine. go to your nail salon and they will put a new on for you ASAP

Don't mess around. Call your doctor or go to the ER. You may need a tetanus booster and probably antibiotics. Prevention is alot easier than a cure.

Go to your Doc and get the Shot. Does not hurt. Er is a big time waste of time just for a shot.Avg time- 12+ hrs to get a bed. A shot- Probably 2 1/2 -3 hrs. Faster at docs office. Obviously.
