Guys,
Has anyone experienced a squeal or whining sound on Yamaha F series 4 stroke outboards while around 1100 RPM? I found the thread below which leads me to believe it is not a big issue. My dealer says not to worry about it, but I am always skeptical about engine issues.

Any input would be welcome.

Is the squeal constant or intermittant?

At 1100 or 1200 RPM it's pretty consistent. Once you move over or under that range, it's gone.

I had the same thing !! Thought I was hearing things. It was low at first, then got louder. the more I ran it the quieter it got. I had my Mech. take a look at it, but typical of a problem, when he came down I was not there. I think it worked itself out, whatever it was.

I had the same noise on my F-150 . My mechanic said it was a belt don't worry about it. Sure enuf it went away.
