Here's a story from the Cape Cod Times...that water he spent a half hour in is running about 48 degrees these days...brrrrr!! Sounds like that PFD probably saved him...might have been a very different ending on that story if he wasn't wearing it...

COTUIT - A 45-year-old man was rescued after his kayak swamped and overturned in Cotuit Bay yesterday afternoon.Dale Bradbury, whose address was not available, was in the water for nearly 30 minutes before being pulled out, Capt. David Pierce of the Cotuit Fire Department said.

Bradbury, who was visiting family in the area, told his rescuers that he was swamped by waves and he fell out when the kayak overturned, Pierce said. Bradbury was wearing a life jacket.

A dispatcher from Maffei Landscaping called the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department shortly after 12:30 p.m. after a work crew in Cotuit saw a kayaker in trouble just off Loop Beach. The department notified the Cotuit Fire Department which launched a rescue boat, said Pierce.

Bradbury was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he was treated and released.
