Hey everyone,
Im heading to sports authority tommorow...rite now i have a penn spinfisher 5500 on a 7' ocean master rod 15-20 lbs test rated. I think that is god for 8-12 pound blues for casting big poppers. wat kinda rod/reel should i get for casting plastics, small poppers, swimmers etc.

Both Joey and I have been very pelased woth the performance of the Tica reels. The Camry in a 3500 size loaded with 30 braid is a great yak reel. You won't find them at SA though.

If your still going to SA check out a Shimano Baitrunner 3500. I've had one for 3 yrs and used it quite often with no problems yet. Its smooth...but not the smoothest in the world. It has a Feature that lets you pay out line with the bail closed. Great to use baitfishing for Bass when you want a delayed hook set. For the yak I put mine on a Fenwick HMG 7' Med with #30 braid.

Okuma also makes a spinning reel with the same feature. Its called a baitfeeder (never used one and I don't know if SA has them). It retails for around $60. The Shimano Goes for about $100. Good Luck.
