Does anyone know for sure the weight of a 1983 22 ft Aquasport Cuddy with a sterndrive 350? I'm trying to figure if I would be able to tow it with my van that has a max capacity of 3500 lbs. NADA says it weighs 2100 lbs but I can't believe that. The current owner says someone told him about 4800 lbs, but I don't know where he got that from. Thanks.

Thanks. I tried the aquasport website. The closest thing I could find was the 2003 Explorer (w/a cuddy), a 215 (21'4" LOA) dry weight is 3200 lbs and the 225 (24'LOA with pulpit and swim platform) is 4100 lbs, both with 225 hp 4 stroke outboard. But I don't know how an 83 cuddy with sterndrive would compare to that.

what type of van?

The towing capacity has more to do with the weight of the vehicle sometimes; take it for a ride & see how it goes. I tow 3500 with a 93 s-10 blazer 5-speed (regular 4.3 - not vortec). I've actually towed even more with it, a little hard on the vehicle on hills, but no real problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that I don't have the boat yet, I am considering buying it, but my Sienna has a maximum tow capacity of 3500 lbs. If it is over that I wouldn't get it. I know it is a long shot but I was hoping someone had the same boat from around that year and knew what the weight was.

I think you are worrying too much about the vehicle - I'd just try it out and see how it works, and then make your decision on that. This is fishing we are talking about... screw the van, get your priorities straight ;).

If you want a 22 ft boat & will not put a little extra weight on that van, the only solution I see is going aluminum. Check out the aluminum brands - lots out there, most popular in my area has got to be starcraft.. Aluminum hulls are the lightest boats available for thier size. The islanders have a closed bow / raised cabin and are at least as seaworthy as any 22 ft glass boat. Unfortunatly the hulls are not built with performance in mind and they don't ride as nicely. I don't think I've ever seen a walkaround, but there are pleanty of walk-through's & CC's out there.
