Got it

I was curious as I was asked about a wreck that way and the only one I came up with on the chart in that depth was the S/D.

The water depth sounds about right as it was described to me.

I am asasuming it wouls also be S/E of the Ocean Beach water tower.

I'll get the chart out and take a good look.

What type of fish does it hold besides sea bass. I would imagine that there must be some nice fluke around the outside of it.

Thanks for the help.

Crane Barge....

I just read on a website that the "Crane Barge" was actually a barge that was trying to remove the 37,000-pound brass prop (18 foot diameter) from the San Diego.

The wheel was too heavy ~ and the crane barge sunk!

THE CRANE BARGE

THE CRANE BARGE USED TO BE A PRETTY GOOD LITTLE DROP SOME YEARS BACK,ALSO BE ADVISED THIS IS AN EXTREMELY POPULAR DIVE SPOT,SO STEAMING TO THE DIEGO TO FIND A DIVE BOAT CAMPED ON YOU SPOT SUCKS

You will find your occasional Mako or other type shark on the San Diego, just as you will find them at Cholera Banks, and some other inshore locations. It is difficult to fish these areas for sharks because of all the Bluefish, and, as I mentioned, they are occasional visitors, albeit, more often then a lot of people think. The structure itself attracts the fish and once you drift off it you are not in very productive waters for sharks.

Thanks guys

I appreciate all the help and info.
I was chating with Mierowitz about this spot and he couldn't recall the name of the wreck.
I looked at a samll chart which showed all the wrecks in what seemed to be a 100 or so ft of water.

I guess your are talking about when the water warms up a bit for the sharks out there.

Hey Paulie, I always read some of the threads her but being I rarely go off to the wrecks and some of us where chating about it, the wreck, I figured I would chime in as a ROOKIE. ;)
I still do not have the Boga's yet but I will get one for my favorite stuff.:)

I can't do the big stuff anynore because of back surgey a few years ago but I will look for some good bottom fishing out there and the occasional shark.

We had Mako's in about 70 ft last year and some as close as the sea buoy off the FI Inlet. The water Temps where about 70-73 degress. I guess that is the temp for them, or is it cooler?

The FI reef provided some good bottom fishing last year and is starting to get a little populated. If I am that far east of the reef, what the H*** I'll go a little further and work my way back.

I have a gaff on the boat just got to get thre rust off,;) but will bring some heavier stuff just in case.

Which thay had an inlet in front of Patchouge but as the old saying goes "WISH IN ONE HAND AND S*** IN THE OTHER."

Again thaks for all the help.
