Hello, folks.

I live in Queens. As a big fan of striped bass fishing, I've had a hard time finding a place to get fresh live clams between 8PM and 5AM while bait shops are closed. To my knowledge, almost all shops that carry live clams are not open 24 hours so I always had to wait until 5AM when bait shops open.

However, I no longer have to wait till morning like this because I found a place where fresh live clams are sold 24 hours!!! It's in the Flushing area of Queens.

It's a Korean supermarket called "Hanahreum Asian Mart." Its address is 141-40 Northern Blvd (between Parsons Boulevard and Bowne Street).

Here, you can get 12 very fresh, live clams for $4.99!!! I guess the price is a little expensive (1 dollar more expensive than bait shops?) but given the freshness and convenience, I think the price is very reasonable.

These clams are intended for human consumption so their quality is very high. I cooked 12 of them on my own and ate them.

Folks, tight lines and good luck on your striped bass fishing!!!

Re: tiderunner70

I'm not affiliated with this supermarket. I'm not trying to capitalize by sending out annoying messages to anglers so it would be wrong if you consider my post a "spam mail."

These days, people can catch big striped bass around 10PM so there may be people who want to get fresh clams from this shop and try them on big striped bass.

heres a novel idea

By the clams for 1.00 less at the bait shop

maybe a day or 2 before you plan on fishing

put clams in the refridgerator in a tuperware walla fresh clams when you need em

wife wont let you use the fridge get a cooler fill 25% with ice place a tray or shelf over ice to keep clams away from fresh water walla again fresh clams as u need em and no beef with the wife.

shhhh bait shop and even that lttle market dont go dig em every day the get em 1 or 2x per week and shhhhhhhhhhh they refridgerate them until u show up to buy em

now the secret is out no need for midnight runs to queens for clams

Dont tell anyone I spilled the beans.

Thats a brilliant idea cause sometimes I would drive to queens, and not make it back to Demo bt 10pm.

I remember I saw your truck show up at 10:15 one night. Everybody had fish at 10 pm but you had just missed them.

Tony, you ruined my night! I thought there was a conveyer in the back of the shops and they shucked them right into those plastic bushel bags as I needed them. That's it, I'm not fishing anymore. Next you'll tell me they don't freeze those spearing in 10-oz bags the night before I show up! LOL!!

Not really. They just recognize spam when they see it. The only reason I didn't delete it completely from the get go is that I thought it might actually be useful to some local area soul in search of clams at 2:00 am. Then again, the fishing's over by 10:00 pm anyway so I'll be happy when this thread disappears into the corn fields. Does has some humor value to it though ;)
