Hi Crazy Al.

Hope the full moon has been good to you. I would like your opinion. You've read many of my posts and are one of the few members who know my whole bio.

I think I may have upset some members by correcting some of the information they posted on the boards. I've also been accused of putting a negative twist on everything I respond to.

I thought that by adding my "two cents", I was being both helpful and informative. Other than a mistake I recently made about which model boat a member owned (which I appologized for) have you ever discovered inaccurate information in any of my posts? Have you ever read one of my posts and thought to yourself that my words were inappropriate?

I have to tell you, this criticism has come as a shock to me. Even more confusing, every week I receive about a dozen emails and private messages from members to thank me for leading them in the right direction and to state that they are big fans of my posts. Now I don't know what to believe.

Coincidentally, I also received an email today from a website that has a huge International fishing forum. Their webmaster has been reading my posts from the past six months and he invited me to be the moderator of a new area of the forum that he wants to call "Ask DoctorFish". But now I don't know whether or not to accept his offer because it could turn out to be more of a headache than anything else.

I really would love your opinion because I am thinking about leaving the Noreast online community if all I'm going to do here is get on other members' nerves.

Hey DoctorFish:

Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks. Diversity of opinion is what makes this forum, or any other forum, worthwhile. I disagree with half the things I read and I'm sure the response is the same to my postings. This is what makes a horse race, as they say. Keep on posting.

Hello DoctorFish and fellow fishers,

Let me start by saying this bluntly and hopefully my message comes across clearly!

There are a few sharpies on this Noreast board that I respect highly and without any reservations, I find DoctorFish one of them! His comments have been accurate and very insightful! Although some answers may not please some… Doctorfish tell it the way it is!

Unfortunately the more you know your craft… the more people will challenge it and try to rattle your nerves (it comes with the territory my friend).

In the event you decide to moderate someone's website… It is all up to you to make it -or- break it! However, make no mistake about it… its hard work and you will not please everyone regardless how hard you try.

Should you decide to leave Noreast…. Many will feel the great loss (including myself) and the site would not be the same.

Send me an email because I have a few questions to ask and let's talk this out my friend.

DOC,

As you know, emails and posts are easily misread as far as the emotion, or attitude, with which the author writes them. You, know, you can't see facial expressions, tones of voice, etc. Sometimes, your posts come off with a wiff of supremacy, or a little arrogance...kind of like a "know it all" attitude, but not in a strong way. I think the problem recently is the intensity of the Eleni incident, and the quantity and intensity, ( -or passion), in your posting about it, all of which I found very helpfull, especially from a prevetion point of view. But I think this simply started wearing down some of the readers. It seemed to be a personal crusade you had going on, and I guess some people resent that, but I don't blame you - you were there, and you know something must change.

Your post to Buckly, about his fishing machine was god awefully rude, and I'd say there, you used very poor judgement. I think this single post ignited the tinder.

Besides that I have enjoyed your posts very much. You give good info, and not only talk the talk, but also seem to walk the walk. So, from my perspective, I would say you are one of the most valuable contibutors here. I hope you stick around, I still have much to learn. And I'm sure people who confront you here, wouldn't do so if you were informing them of something in person. They'ed be all ears. So, I really do hope you stick around. Its very easy for most of us to extract good info from what we read.

BTW, congrats on that offer. I had a similar offer, on another board, (nothing to do with fishing), and it is quite flattering to be asked.

Peace,

...mocean

DON'T LEAVE DOC!!!!!

Dude, You can't leave

I love your posts!

It's not your fault that you have great knowledge to share! I read that post to Buckle. You did not try to knock him. All you did is state you spoke with someone who just fished in the canyon on a similiar craft and you told us what that dude stated. It still was a bunch of truths. Don't leave Doc. These boards are already empty and full of a bunch of wrong info and if you go there so will go our reliable sourse to confirm or deny what is true or not. Just today I learned that a VHF and an Anchor are not required by law. Some other dude insisted that some dude should have been given a ticket for not having a radio. You showed us that the law is dum and does not recquire one.

please do not leave Doc. Please.

Doc-
I too think you should stay on (can you take that other offer still, though? That's really great!)I think mocean pretty much got to the main issue, so I won't harp on that anymore. Like I said in other posts, I have found you to be, on the whole, informative and generally polite. I for one registered on this site not only to socalize with fellow LI anglers, but to learn from them as well. There are few members from whom we can gain greater knoweldge of this sport from , Doc. Like others have said, I think most members want you to stay. If they didn't like you, they would ignore you, no matter what you said (at least that's how I am ).

THANK YOU

Thank you Crazy-Al and everyone else who gave your support. Over the past two days alone I've been bombarded with about fifty emails and private messages from members urging me not to read into anything too deeply. Even as I write this note the messages continue to come in. Some of the guys who posted negative comments have even sent me new messages to state that they were just busting my hump and didn't mean any harm.

I agree, let's put this to rest and get back to fishing.

Thank you again.

Hey DoctorFish,

I am glad you are finally realizing how we value your input and that all things should be taken lightly.

This is a "fishing" forum and it's supposed to be entertaining as well as educational to those who wish to sharpen their skills.

During my inception to this forum… I once said that this is supposed to be "fun" and if I find it otherwise - that will be the day I decide to quit. ;)

Anyway, welcome back buddy and let's talk about fishing! :)

So, now that the summer doldrums is not far away… What is your game plan?
