Woodcleft Tourney-morning pics

Here's a couple of pics taken before the Bimini start from the Blinky, and of course, one of our ever-vigilant first-time crewmember Capt. Chris Squeri. This was his favorite position throughout the day. He did manage to wake up enough to help leader one of our two fish.

Enjoy,

Sleeping on the Job

Hey Pat

Nice pics That was the same position our boat owner had most of the day also except when he heard a clicker go off and then he was hip checking guys out of the way to get to the rods. It was way to slow of a day for us first at the Linda and then working the RockPile areas and the Virginia. Well that's fishing Good luck later in the summer in Ocean City.

Actually, Chris is a solid fisherman and did a good job. We've known him for years, but since it's first time with our crew, we had to bust his chops a little (His wife did make some awesome cookies for the trip, thank you)... We made two moves for the day, it was a rough one. We only managed two blue sharks, but that's fishing.

Are you fishing in the WMO or MA 500, too?

I knew this was coming!!! LOL! In my defense, I worked Friday, then bartended Friday night till 2:30am! A lil tired!!

Even though fishing was slow, great trip on a great boat with a great crew! Pretty neat running up in the tower on a 50 Viking Express at 39knots to start the tourney. My body is a bit sore from bracing myself up there!!!

as Glen passed us on the Reel Games, there was a 20 foot mako with 3 guys in it with what looked like a threasher...i couldn't tell.

having the same exact 20 foot mako i couldn't see my self more than a few miles from the beach let alone shark fishing in one....

i saw those guys in the mako. i thought it was a mako in the boat. not too big. looked like they only had 2 rods on the boat, no gold reels. shows that all the fancy stuff isn't needed. i used to run my 17 aquasport offshore all the time. its been to the mud hole and i took a 184 mako south of the yankee once. but that's when the motor was new.

We run with a 23 ft. Trophy walk around and go with three Penn 9/0's.

gotta pick your days wisely. We had a 289 thresher at the linda last year on a 21 robalo CC.

yep, all about picking them days. We run a 21 SeaCraft and have had all sizes picked up southeast of the linda as well. biggest the old man brought in was a 400+ mako years ago

Woodcleft Shark Tourney-247lb. Thresher

Hassell Five won the tourney in dramatic fashion. The 247lb. Thresher was hooked around 1PM.Took about 2 hrs. to land as the fish was caught on a Penn 30 wide. The team is a bunch of local boys fishing the Freeport tournaments for years. THIS WAS THEIR YEAR! Keep your eye on this team in the future. They're serious about the sport and look to put the Hassell Five on many more trophies to come.

The Hassell Five: Capt. Randy Hassell, Anglers: Jay Bolognini, Jeff Dougherty, Eddie Dawson, Joey Tile, Jimmy No last name Needed.
