IMHO...based on my experience with these units, the 582L
hands down is my choice. It has the power to give you the resolution at the
depths you are fishing, and alot deeper than that. Dont waste your time and money, a thru hull transducer is the only way to maximize the abilitys of this machine. I have had properly installed transom mounts that loose bottom after 10 knots.
