The breeze Sunday at Great kills made my 3/0 Deciever look like an airplane. I was getting nice, flat casts only to have the wind hang the fly in the air. In a few cases, the wind actually threw the fly back at me.
Finally, I turned away from the wind. But that meant turning away from the jetty.

HOW DOES EVERYONE COPE WITH THE WIND??

I almost hate to mention it because once you do it once you might make it a habit but try sidearming it. Keep your casts low to the water and you can cut right through the wind. Also if you can use a weighted fly it will help fight through the wind so your cast can fully unfold. Good luck and only use the sidearm technique when you have to I see alot of people make a habit of it even when there is no wind. Good luck.
