Some anglers will swear wind can make or break the fishing on a given beach.

Clearly wind can help or hurt your casting so in that regard it is good or bad.

Wind often does push bait and fish onto the beach (or at least into casting range) but I have also seen times when the wind was right in your face and the fish never came close.

And wind certainly does stir up the water or lay it flat and let it settle clear. That IMO is probably the biggest issue with wind.

The short answer is wind is definately a factor in surf fishing. Whether it's a good or bad factor depends on the wind direction, the beach and your own point of view.
