I left my sage 4 weight in my truck and the wife loaded the kids stroller on top of it. I know, its my fault. It broke in the second section of a 3 piece rod. Can you buy different sections of a rod?

I don't mean to make light of your situation, because I would freak if I was in your position, but the title of your thread cracked me up.

WIFE TOUCHED ROD. My wife doesn't even want to breath around my favorite stuff because I'm a nut about it.

Hope it gets resolved quickly and inexpensively.

Good luck.

What model Sage was it? 9' 4wt. I'm assuming...

Did you buy the rod used? If so, Sage can choose to not honor the warranty. If you're the original owner, you shouldn't have any problems even if you didn't send the warranty card in. They'll take your word for it. The serial number is on the blank about 4" up from the grip, write that down before you ship the rod.

Also, make up some outlandish story as to how the rod broke.

In my experience with Sage they will most likely honor the repair. I know of second-owners who have received warranty service. And all of the rod companies have by now heard just about every story there is about how a rod broke. It is amazing that since the manufacturers began been selling rods with life time or limited life time warranties how many rods really aren't broken by huge fish or when setting the hook or during the power cast or during a fight with a nmonster. Most folks now own up about what really happened...I stepped on it, it got jammed in the screen door, I dropped a cooler on it, smashed it in the car door, ran it over with the truck, and even...the dog ate it! I find being straight with them works the best. The warranties have been built into the prices of the rods so no sweat off the manufacturers to replace a tip or two. good luck.
