Bombs, troops, etc.

Doesn't everyone, Iraq included, rely on email, computers, database servers, etc. Aren't these computers probably running on an operating system developed in America. I understand that military computers may be well protected, but what about the non-military.

Hack them into the stone age. Disrupt all commerce and communications.

Cut off their internet access, credit cards, phones, and satellites.

Offer a bounty to hackers. Whatever they can steal from Iraq, they keep half of, no prosecution. Special bonuses for shutting down power grids, traffic signals, etc.

"Hack them into the stone age. "

uh skate,

you kind of got things confused here.

we are the ones that "rely on email, computers, database servers, etc"

not many dell P4's on the backs on camels in the desert.

"Hack them into the stone age. "

well currently that is what they are trying to do to us !
we spend billions of dollars a year protecting our networks from this.

please dont give the terrorists anymore ideas, they are creative enough ;)

you are not listening skate

you edited your post to add this

well up until now,
those hackers working for the badboys of the world were paid meager amounts of money, they did it for the love of the cause.
now you just gave them a great idea.
lets motivate our "workers" with cash incentives,
that should help the terrorists become more effective at their tasks.

also the robinhood concept of stealing from the rich is motivating to many.
problem is WE are the rich,
and the badboys are the poor.
again with the promotion of a idea that will work against us.

skate i know you are a loyal to this country,
i will attribute this to the cold weather effecting your brain.
please thaw it out before coming up with more ideas,
america thanks you ;) :)

"If all they had were camels, they wouldn't be a threat. "

its not about what they have,
it about their desire and conviction to their cause.

you do not need great sums of money or tremendous skills to cause turmiol in this world, and all the money in the world cannot prevent this from happening unfortunately.

some examples of this:

crazy guy in korea with $20 worth of flamable liquid and a $1 train ticket took out 150+ people.

19 terrorists and a few hundred thousand dollars in funding changed our way of life and caused hundreds of billions of dollars in expenses.

how many planes have been blown out of the skies by $100 worth of explosives and a plane ticket, we spend billions a year worldwide to prevent it, and it still happens.

the billy40 lookalike ;) almost took out 300 people with a couple hundred dollars of explosives and his shoe,
if there would have been a tour group of old ladies sitting around his area, most likely that plane would have been blown out of the sky.
luck and some observant passengers saved them,
NOT the billions of dollars of newly installed post 9/11 security.

so its not about what you got.
its about your desire or conviction to your cause.

that is why this is such a tough battle to fight.

Telecommute to Iraq

I like the idea of a war without guns. Damage can be inflicted without walking away from a keyboard. Who has access to more intellectual talent? The US is certainly better off fighting that battle than they would be sending a foot soldier halfway around the world to fight in someone else'e house.

It's ironic that we all are ready to bomb Iraq into oblivion, but shrink away from tacking a few Playstation's onto Saddam's Visa card.

"I like the idea of a war without guns. Damage can be inflicted without walking away from a keyboard. "

well that is actually called diplomacy and foreign policy.
we also use sanctions too.
(i had a intersting article posted on these sanctions yesterday, it was deleted by the party members)

"Who has access to more intellectual talent? "

well at the current time we do,
there are several other nations in this world that will possibly surpass us in this catagory soon, ofcourse with the help of our higher learning institutions.

also as i pointed out before,
intellectual talents are not needed to be successful in creating havoc in this world.

the person who lit fire to the korean subway was mentally unstable, i would consider that limited intellect, yet he was able to outwit all the intellect that was invested in security and the many guards and police working there.

our own fbi and cia pointed out after 9/11 all the mistakes the terrorists made while they lived in this country.
they look like complete fools in retrostect, not accomplished missionaries.

yet the vast intellect and resources of our fbi/cia/nsa/etc was unable to even spot these clowns.
and in reality, according to many at the fbi, several attempts were made by agents to investigate some of these terrorists, but the higher ups, the ones we assume with even more intellect, squashed the investigations.

"The US is certainly better off fighting that battle than they would be sending a foot soldier halfway around the world to fight in someone else'e house"

well were are sending the boys halfway around the world because our diplomacy and foreign policy have created the situation to begin with.
(again another article i had posted that was deleted concerning this subject.}
all our superior intellect has done nothing to solve this matter.
and in my opinion and the supporting evidence of the past events has show that our leaders , those with the highest level of intellect,
OFTEN make very bad decissions.

Hacking

Last week on the radio I heard that the US Gov. is actually asking for volunteers for the purpose of hacking thier machines into uselessness. I was kind of busy at the time ( driving to work dealing with a few of the maniacs on 87 at 75 mph so I didn't get to many of the details but I def. heard that they were planning that kind of attack or at least checking out the feasability of it

Yes, Iraq has a computer network. And the U.S. is already emailing high military officials to inspire a coup or defect before it's too late. (It was on World News Tohight the other night). During the gulf war we put viruses into their computers. This alone, of course has a limited effect. But it has an effect. I'm sure any disruption of commerce via the computers will have children and the general population suffer and not the rotten people high up. But in combat the act of hacking does have a use.

"Yeah, in 1991 they laughed at us also. When we told them to withdraw out of Kawait or else. "

"there is the question as to whether Iraq's invasion of Kuwait was a set up.
Evidence indicates that the US knew of Iraq's plans -- after all, the military and intelligence agencies of the two countries were working very closely.

Newspaper reports about the infamous meeting between then-Ambassador Glaspie and Iraq officials,
and a special ABC report in the series "A Line in the Sand,"
indicated that, although the US officials told Iraq that it disapproved,
they indicated that the US would not interfere."

The greatest danger Saddam represents is the fact that he's irrational and in control of a large nation.
As for unconventional warfare there was an article in last weeks newsweek that detailed some of the us'S plans included carbon fiber bombs to disrupt the power grids. Plus the US has been harassing the Iraqis for months with special forces etc. a conventional war is more for the Media than anything else. Foxnews can't shiow any exciting footage of disabled power grids can they?
As for the last Iraqi war, the Iraqis invaded Kuwait because the Kuwaitis were depleting the Iraqi Oil reserves with US funded slant drilling, Iraq complained for months in the UN etc and no one listened (check the record) so they invaded the legal issues involved in that issue still have not been totally decided. Whose oil is it if I access from my land but its under you land?
This war is much different...
Or Is it?

Some people just got waaaay too much time on their hands...
