always cast as complete idiots in TV commercials? I can take care of myself, cook, clean, push a vacuum. I know where the cough syrup is in my house. Most of us do so why are we always pegged as drooling dolts? I find it offensive, don't you? Sure my wife is better at childcare and cooking than I ever will be but I can hold down the fort. Plus I?m kinda handy around the house. It just bothers me. Thanks for letting me vent.

Probably because it's true.
The day of the hunter/gatherer is over and males don't have much of a mission anymore.
In my opinion (and from what I observe) most guys don't know what a tool is for or how to use one, don't know how to build a primitive shelter, wouldn't know edible wild food from poisonous....and couldn't hunt with point or snare if their lives depended on it.
There are exceptions, but few and far between. So you few that are capable don't go getting your testosterone in a boil. I don't want to read your resume. But if you really consider it.....you know it's true.
This is why I'm waiting for the predictions to come true.....and that gigantic asteroid to crash into the Earth.
Then I'll have all the womenz for myself.

I agree that the target audience is women, and yet if a show was crafted depicting women in a negative light, ie weak, stupid, slovenly, etc, then the show would be accused of sexism. But it's ok to have shows like "Blame it on Raymond" where the husband is naive dolt and absorbed in his job/self and the wife goes on a rip on a normal basis.
Ever stumble upon the woman's network? They never portray men in a positive light. Every man they show is a rapist/pedophile/wife-beater/psycho. They NEVER show a woman in a negative frame of mind.
There are some of us that can think collectively in a positive manner but they would rather harp on the indescretions of other men just for spite.

Like the ones that always start off with.......Tired of THIS happening to you everytime................/......and they show someone doing some simple chore like cleaning egg off a plate, but somehow they manage to slip their hand off the plate and smash into the BIG STACK of dished and send them crashing to the floor...........

........or spilling paint on the couch, or the garbage bag tearing and dumping garbage everywhere............LOL

...........oh yea, and ya gotta love those paper towel commercials when the kids are either throwing food on the walls, the floor, spilling grape juice on the carpet, running through the house caked in mud and hand prints everywhere...........and MOM is smiling and tears one sheet off the roll and cleans it up while smiling and patting jr on the head...........

Your absolutly right Toggy. I've seen it done with all races. I look at it this way. If the product being advertised uses a dumb guy to help sell it, then it isn't something I would need.

I hear you and it's good that you have a way to vent.Just keep in mind that TV is all made up and what you see isn't real. A perfect example is the commercial where the hispanic father puts nails into the table to hold a Taco upright.Then they take it a little crazyier by his 6 year old son says "Why don't they make the Taco flat on the bottom?".
Now the whole town celebrates and hold the kid up in the air like he saved the world. If I were to believe every commercial I see,I'd send the kid to a latin country and make him El Presadante.... Get the drift????. They take something that is not true and put a reverse spin to it.Relax there are more important things to be concerned about.I also want to thank you for your post.
