hey larrynoboat,
went this past weekend on walshs out of lynn with kenton geer, the captain of the bunny clark. We did very well; he had 19 keepers and i had 15. All good sized. My next trip is this coming sunday, also on walshs.
See ya,

I'm trying Willy, I'm trying. For us Long Island guys to drive 5 plus hours for a shot at some cod is one thing, but to do it on the high chance that the trip will be cancelled due to the wind is alot to ask. Keep going though. Reading about someone else's good fortune is better than nothing at all. I'll be in touch.

I will go fishing this Sunday

Hey Willy I will go on Walsh's this Sunday. I can't wait to go fishing. The Helen-H trip scheduled for 11/15 was cancelled but I went on Yankee Fleet and had what I considered the Best cod fishing I have ever had. Caught over 27 keepers, average for me was 13lbs. That was a fun trip. So Willy I will see you at the boat (hope the weather is good) and if not then I will see you at the Helen-h on 12/22.

hey ken, hopefully i will see you there. Sounds like it was a very good trip on the yankee fleet. Was it on the freedom? If so, I'd be surprised because i have never doen well on that boat.
Fatal Attraction, what did you end up choosing for your custom cod rod this summer?

Willy, I did fish the Freedom. I have fished it once before at the end of 2000 and did very well. Overall if I were to fish Yankee Fleet it would be on the Patriot since Capt Phil is their best day captain in my opinion. Willy hope to see you there and bring on Greg V. I would like to meet him even thought I heard of his "mind games".

Walsh's is supposed to fish until the end of Dec, weather permitting, that is from Capt Jim. I believe that he is going to stop in Jan. and start up again in Feb.

Fatal Attraction- I will be on the Helen-H on 12/15 I believe that is a limited trip on a Sunday. I too would like a report on that boat to see what they are doing.

Helen-H

Gmorhua, yep, it is a limited trip. booked it awhile ago. We are something like #'s 10-14. We'll probably be up in the bow hopefully banging them pretty good if we get out. Look forward to meeting ya on-board. I also booked the limited trips in Jan and Feb too. Plus another 12/29. Capt Anthony from the Sea Queen and Jamaica Bay Charters will be gracing us with his presence!

Willie G. - Haven't decided on a custom stick yet. Went to go see Capt Neil. He was gracious and loaned me a 7 1/2' composite glass/graphite that felt nice. Want to give it a shot. Might need to be a little bit longer but i'll know when I can give it a shot. I was supposed to use it on the Viking at the end of Oct but it was blown out. Will try it on the Helen-H.

I have not seen any reports yet. Anybody hear anything on the cod in Mass? thanks!

Fatal Attraction, which limited trip do you have booked for february. I have the georges limited trip for sunday, 2/16. Maybe I'll see you there. Ken, would it be ok with you if you could perhaps bring some extra angermans (if you have any) for me to perhaps borrow on the trip sunday? I have a few but it would be great if I would be able to borrow one if I lost them. Obviously I would pay you if I lost one.
Thanks,

Willy, what do you need? I have a couple extras, I have a couple of 10's, only 2 or 3 12's, I think 2 14's and a couple of 16's. I have mainly 10's though for fishing on Georges. Tell me what you are interested in and I'll bring em'. Boy I wanted to meet Greg V and give him some jabs..........

Fatal Attraction, I don't know what position I am but I will gladly meet you on the boat. I called early for my trips, a couple of days after the schedule showed up on the website. I have other trips in Dec, Jan and Feb but those are just the "regular trips". I was told by some one who fishes the boat regularly that they over book the limited trips to about 35 total people versus the 27 they claim, so we'll find out.

ken, the jigs I have are 1 10 ounce, a pair of 12's and a 16. It's probably enough but I would feel much more comfortable if I had a backup of both a 10 and a 16. Also, I only have two flies, both good colors, but if I could maybe borrow a few of those then that would be great also. I might not even need the extra stuff, but I'd really appreciate it if you could bring it just in case.
Thanks,

Helen-H

Willie, I have 4 slots on the 2/16 trip too. Hope we get good weather for that one. I guess you guys like the angermann's. I picked up 4 for these trips. I usually use the crippled herrings, vikes or diamonds.

Gmorhua, I hope they don't overbook but I am also realistic that that is probably a fact of life. He is charging more for these limited trips so we can only hope that we get what we pay for. Look for a 6'3'' guy with a green hat with three other guys. -- Mark

Helen-H

Hey guys...

I, too, have a reservation on the Helen H for 12/29 - the "whale cod" trip. My friend and dad are going. We went on regular Georges trip last Feb and did really well. 10oz. jigs were too light that day. 14oz. did OK and 16-17oz were more solid. We used diamonds with pink 5" twister tails as teasers and did as well as anyone on our first cod trip ever.
Praying for the weather...

Why no reports on the Helen H website???

cjtuna,
i dont think that the helen h has been reporting lately because they have been out on so few trips. As you know, the weather has simply been horrible this winter, and I don't think that the helen h has been out on more than 5 cod trips so far. By the way, I'mgoing on the dec. 22 whale cod trip with gmorhua, so we'll let you know how we do.

Fingers crossed

I'm scheduled to go on the Helen H on Dec 12 th. I called the boat a few days ago and they said that they haven't gotten out almost at all since they got out of the yards. The bad weather keeps blowin' out trips. My fingers are crossed for this Thursday.........Keep you posted....
