Sorry I couldn't and still can't help you. What I have heard though is this lafayette crature is a good bait for Stripers. Is that why you are after them? I do not even know what they look like.

Good luck on your quest,

lafayette the old buddy of mine

well when i was a kid we used to cacth them off Canarise pier. by the bucket full.these days it is a oddity to find but I would try around fishing piers or edge of the reefs. Try the reef by the GSB by the RMB you may get some there along with pories.

There is a deep channel in Moriches Bay 25 - 30' between buoys 30 and 31. I've heard them talking of the different fish you'll catch there and lafayette was one of them. You can also expect to find Weakfish, Porgies, Kingfish, Seabass, and Blowfish to name a few. Give Gary a call at Silly Lilly (631-878-0247) he will give you a report on whats biteing.

SPOT>>>

LPV77, from time to time, we will catch the occassional spot in our waters, but they are much more common in Mid-Atlantic waters. From Delaware Bay on south, they are extremely common, with Chesapeake Bay, being their main breeding grounds. The small boat party boat fleet in the Chesapeake will fish for both spot and croaker for the majority of their season. And like Somoan stated, spot is one of the most popular baits for stripers. Fish for them like you would fish for bay porgies, with worms being the preferred bait.

I'm not positive but that pitcure looks kind of like what I call sea perch. You can catch tons of them down in south Jersey on the mullica river right around the garden state parkway . Believe it's exit 46 right before A.C. there' a boat launch called chestnut neck about 1/4 mile from parkway. It's aride but it's worth it, very little presure and unbelievable scenery
