I should've asked this days ago, but.......oh well, I'm hoping to get some insight from you fellow boaters before this afternoon rolls around.

Where I have my boat now (25 foot Luhrs), the spacing between the rear dock rope ring and the front one is 20 1/2 feet.

At the new dock, unfortunately, I only have 15 or 16 feet to space them. Where would be the best placement of the rope rings, and bumpers?

Ugh, I give up trying to get that picture right. Anyway, thanx for reading this......I solved the problem.

I tried to draw it up in MS Paint.....so what. I know I ain't no MAKOMATT.

Anyway, what it was about....I only had 15 to 16 feet of straight dock to tie up to, and my boat is 25 feet long. Talk about 2 pounds of baloney in a 1 pound bag!

In the front of the dock, by the ramp, the dock juts out at a 45 degree angle. I didn't want the boat smacking the point of this part of the dock when it's windy.

So, I put a rope ring all the way at the back end, one at the front tip of the dock, and a spring line from the center to the back. 2 bumpers in back and middle, and it looks real good.

On the dock Use 3 cleats one up front , one just behind the stern and one just ahead of the midship .

Now The rope from the boat ....... stern cleat to the midship cleat on the dock , the midship cleat to the stern cleat on the dock and the front cleat to the front cleat on the dock .

Now you take another rope from midship to midship cleat . The cross keeps your boat from moving foward or back the front cleat keeps the bow to the dock and the midship to midship keep the rear of the boat close to the dock .

This might be a start you will have to adjust ropes and place bumpers where needed .
