We do most of our shopping at place called Dave's market, it a local RI mini-chain of markets. The rest of the stuff we get at Stop & Shop.

Meat & Bulk paper goods, personal care items - BJ's or Costco.
The rest of our groceries are from Trader Joes! Great Stuff!!

Once in a while my wife will hit Pathmark or King Kullen, but 90% of the time it's Trader Joes.

Non perishables, paper products, frozen foods, personal care items I buy at the King Kullen in town on a ?as needed? basis every morning along with my newspaper.

Fruits and vegetables are either Stop & Shop or one of the local farm stands. The fruit at King Kullen stinks.

Meats I buy mostly at two different butcher shops. I make a special trip to one butcher for baby back ribs.

My wife does the coupon thing and goes to either Waldbaum's, Stop & Shop or whatever other store has the bulk non perishables on sale and stocks up on them then.

My wife hits target for paper goods if I don't go to Costco or BJ's. Good prices there too.

I hate grocery stores!

We try to do one Costco run per month but it seems like 2 is becoming the norm with the new baby. Then we go to Stew Leonards once a week of milk, cold cuts and produce. Sometimes they have decent deals on meats and fish but for I buy most of that stuff at Costco too! You can't beat costco collossal king crab legs at 9.99/lb!

Just a little more info...

1. My wife and I take regular trips to Lancaster, Pa where we buy freshly slaughtered beef from the Amish. Less than half of the market prices here and no preservatives - anyone wants to hook-up, let me know.

Worth the trip!!!

Check out Willowvalley.com - Fantastic value!

2. My employers have about 5,000sf of vacant land behind our shop, the soil is clean and the area is sunny and fenced in. Next year the bosses are going to allow us to plant whatever veggies we want as long as we tend to it.

I've got to put in a plug for Trader Joe's also, great quality at lower prices than name brand stuff. I suppose they save on the advertising. You can count on anything with their name on it being top notch. Lots of natural/healthy products and great ethnic foods which we love. I wish there were more locations.

As far as local supermarkets, Stop-n-Shop seems best to me. Items seem to go on sale in some sort of cycle, stock up when they do until the next time its on sale.
