I was just wondering if all the fishermen in my area have been doing as poor as me this fall. 5 stripers over 28" have made it into the boat since fall began. This is the opposite of last fall where there was a 1 month period were on average 4-5 stripers were boated per tide. The method of fishing has been primarily clam/clam chum with a fish finder rig. Last fall all the fish were picked up inside. This year a clam can't be kept on a hook at the Loop, Wantagh, or Meadowbrook bridges due to baby sea bass. I've fed quite a few. The drains and marsh banks have been very slow for me. Because of this I've fished the inlet with clams at anchor with some success. 3 of my 5 stripers were at the inlet. Maybe this is why so many more boats are anchored up here this year. This is only my 3rd year fishing so I'm wondering what the norm is here. I get out 3-4 days per week and love it. Perhaps it's just bad luck for me this year. How is everyone else doing inside?

Hmm, not bad I say..

Overall CaptRon, I think you have done pretty well.. I have not had any luck at Jones Inlet then again I can only do one day week if that. Keep catching those fish and if you want some big ones try Montauk(check out my striper pics)..

CaptRon...its not you....the water temps in the back bays are still pretty warm, and everyone has experienced poorer then normal striper fishing this fall. With bay waters dropping into the lower sixties, things should improve. The big bodies of bass that we usually see coming down the south shore beaches are on their way.
