Gonna go bottom fishing this weekend and target seabass.Just wondering if you can keep any blackfish now or do you have to toss em back since the season doesn't start until Oct.1?

October 1 is not a significant date in NJ. If you are referring to NY, you can not keep anything before October 1 and legally you cant target them either. If you are fishing in NJ, you are allowed 1 until Nov 16th.

In RI you can keep three until October 18th when the creel limit goes up to 8 fish per day.

I'll be fishing out of NY.I thougt it was 1 a day until the start of the season in NY also but I guess not.Thanks guys.
