I'd like to get some different ideas on
trolling spreads.I always had good luck with big birds on the outside and spreaders on the inside with zukers, jet heads and feathers scattered about, but this weekend I had no luck at all.Any ideas??

We mixed it up this weekend. Two birds down the middle (one way back) the other 10 yards off the tail of our spread (each run from the leaning post); two spreader bars off the long riggers; daisy chains off the shorts; and various singles inside the spread (four additional rods). The long bird was nailed 4 times (3 skippies and a larger fish that screamed line for good distance and was lost), the spreaders were hit (5 skippies), and an inside daisy chain. Dorado seemed to be the color of choice. Pink and blue were hit. black and purple, blue and white didn't get touched.

I don't think it's the spread fishman

I have tried so many different spreads this year, and not one has proved more successful than another.
I think it is just a real slow year.
My old stand by is a bit like yours.
Bird/green machine combo down the middle, wwb
Either bird/jet or bird/gm on outrigger left. Daisy chain (either GM, Zuch, or Mex Flag) on rigger right, on 5th wake.
Tandem Zukers (green/yellow or black purple) on 4th wake, and either cedar plugs or Stalker Hex jets on 3rd wave.
Sometimes mix a chain or swimming plugs in close, or large zukers behind birds on the riggers.
Next week I am going to throw out a few more teasers. Even with the birds going in the spread I cannot seem to raise fish up like previous years.

MakoMike, I've seen you write about those red and purple zukers before but have never seen that color in a Zuker feather before. Where did you get them ?
Also when you say tight, how tight ?? 20 feet back ?? 1st or 2nd wake ??
Thanks and good luck out there.
