My fluorocarbon leaders 40# 50# 60# 70# 80# are from Seagaur no special reason other than it's all I've ever used.My mono leaders are from the spools that that don't have enough left on them to fill my reels,it works for me.
i use seagaur and it works fine....but i also use the yo-zuri and have had no problems i tend to stick with 60 and 80 but you should be ready with lighter and heavier due to size of fish and if they start to get leader shy
The best leader is the heaviest leader you can get bites on. Start heavy and then work down if you're not getting bites. There are many nights 200lb mono gets bit just as well as 40lb flouro, so why drop if you don't need to. Now day time fishing is a different story, but the same theory applies. I generally start with 100lb flouro in the day and then work my way down as low as 60lb if I'm not getting bites. I like to have chance when a bigger fish calls and the odds are heavily against you with a 60lb leader, nevermind anything lighter
TunaBully said it best...but to take it one step further, at times, I've just tied direct to line when the bite is on, no leader & had clients say 'Huh?'.
But those nights....gee, I don't remember any lately! (LOL)
