Hi,

I wish the answer was so simple. Many things have to be known.

Where are you fishing, bay, ocean, sandy, rocky, shallow, deep, 2-4-6-8-10-12 oz sinkers, small boat, party boat, close to water, high above the water, slow current, fast current, do you like fiberglass, graphite or composite rods, mono or synthetic lines?

Not trying to be funny but these are questions you have to think about. There are maybe 5 different types rods that could be suggested in the above group.

I like to fish very light for flounders and as light as I can for fluke.

I would recommend if you budget allows to get a seperate outfit for fluke and flounder. Flounder fishing can be very rewarding with a small setup, PENN 921 (not sure if number is correct) would be my choice. Get something a little beefier for fluke. You can always use the flounder pole for fluke in shallow water but like moderator said, you really need to question where you will be fluking.

Chris,

I agree with the first two posts. You
need different set-ups for both.

Abu Garcia reels I would suggest:
4600C3 (flounder)
5500C3 (flounder/fluke)
6500C3 (fluke)
I own all of them. Great reels.

I just recently bought an Ugly Stick
BWC1121 (5'6") for flounder. I also
have a few glass custom rods that I like to use for fluke and flounder.

Also depends on your budget. Custom
rods are not that cheap. Keep in mind that in most areas the flounder action is not that prolonged. I know in Jamaica Bay we get about a 6 or 8 week shot and then they are gone.

Good luck...

If you want to fish different small species with one rod, I recommend G-Loomis CR723 model. GL2 is $125 and IMX
is $220. I like GL2 better than IMX. IMX is a little bit lighter and more sensitive than GL2, but GL2 is also light enough and stronger. Of course the price is big different. I've used GL2 CR723 for flounder. fluke, porgy and even striper for many years.
The othr alternative is Rogue C603. Rogue C603 is almost same as CR723. The sensitibity and weight is like IMX and the strength is like GL2. The price is $139.
