Ill be fishing the western suond for stripers and I got a good deal on this reel. So what rods can I pair with it for the Kayak. Definitely a conventional rod? Not a spinner because its a bait caster? Im a little confused. Thanks. Anything less than $100?
I plan on using it to troll and chunk bunker. Can I throw plugs with it too?
Basically ill be trolling TnW's and some lighter weight stuff.

Would a Tsunami 5 Star TFSC-661MH work ? Thats what its matched to now.. Why I dunno. I thought that was a spinning rod at first. So I want a casting rod? Or conventional? Sorry I always had spinning gear. Thanks.

Cabo CBC 30 PTs

JaeVee,
The Cabo CBC30PTs is a baitcasting reel. You can use it on a conventional rod but a casting rod is really a better matchup. Conventional rods typically have EVA (foam) grips and longer butt sections (not great for kayak fishing) and the casting rod has a shorter cork grip with most having a trigger. A spinning rod is not really a good match with a baitcasting reel. You will find that some conventional reels will not fit on the smaller reel seats of casting rods. The TFSC-661MH is a 6'6" Medium Heavy casting rod. It can be used for what you want to do but a longer 7' or 7'6" might be better for use in a kayak depending on the size of your kayak. I personally like the St Croix Tidemasters in the 7' or 7'6" MH casting rod for trolling TnW's and throwing plugs with my baitcasters.
