hi i'm looking for a 7ft spinning rod to use with pencil poppers. most of the graphite rods i have are too stiff. i will be using it mainly from my boat so i like to keep it to 7ft or smaller.

If your looking to get away from 100% graphite try looking at the calstars grafighter rods gx7 & the gf 600xl & 700 xl & xlh..They make them with cork grips now..I think you will find them to have the action your looking for & they have tons of backbone.. The # are GFGR 600XL-C , GFGR700XL-C AND GFGR7-C..I dont know if they make the XLH with cork its not listed..

I've used my St. Croix PSRS70ML to good effect with pencil poppers. It really matches up well with any Shimano spinning reel in the 4000 size class.

Nice for fish in the 3-15lb range. Though in truth I pop way more 3lb fish than the other side of that range.
