Saw the one on the Helen-H from a couple sources (very detailed rpts BTW). It mentioned day boats in the area. Who were these? Any reports from the Gloucester and Lynn, MA day trips?

The Walsh's has been doing well whenever she could get out. They sails only weekend and you need reservation.
They fished west of the Stellwagen Bank in 200 - 250 ft water. I heard that the Yankee hasn't got out because they couldn't get enough guys.

Kilsong, do you know of any lodging within walking distance of Walsh's? Is the area dead this time of year, or can I find a motel and food within walking distance? Am wondering how comfortable it would be to go without a car.

The Walsh's is located off 1-A, which is very busy road. I am sure you can find restaurant and motel nearby.

Look back in the posting in this section. There are a few good reports from very recent cod trips on the Heleh H. Also look in the fishing updates New York section. There is 1-2 there as well.

Skatemaster, i spoke to a couple of guys who had made HELEN H cod trips on Thursday and Friday, and they reported that catches ranged from a handful of fish, to some nice size catches on their 1 DAY GEORGES TRIPS. Considering the strong currents on both days, fishing was very good. Both jigging and clams were used on these trips, so be prepaired, depending on the conditions.

I've heard that the Montauk boats that are fishing are finding some fish east of the island.

What are the regs when fishing on Walshs and does the boat have a website? If not, do you know their phone #?

Limit is five until the end of March and ten from April 1 to Nov. 30. But it is not bad to keep five cod over 10 pounder and enjoy fishing for $50.

I'm hoping to get out this weekend, either saturday or sunday. The cod bag limit on walshs, if i have read correctly, is ten cod and haddock combination, of which no more than five can be cod. I originally thought it was a five fish cod/haddock combo, but i think that was wrong. Walshs website is not very informative, but it is www.walshsfishing.com f you want to check it out. If i do get out this weekend, which i'm praying i will do, I'll give a report with pictures from my new digital camera. I've been a month and a half without cod and am getting wrestless.

Kilsong, another question for ya'. Does the walshs boat get a good amount of haddock this time of year or do they tend to catch them later on in the year?

Not a single haddock was caught on the 02-22 trip. The last time I saw many haddock on the Stellwagen Bank was late November on a private charter. They'll show up again in the spring. Right now the majority fish is cod. I saw a few sea raven.

Walsh's was sold out for Saturday, but Sunday may be open. Am on the list for the Yankee on Saturday should they decide to go.

I was planning to do walshs sat also. I think I'll try them sunday and switch my charter with the relentless out of boston harbor to saturday.
