Spent a week on the westhamptons. I tried 4 days in a row. high tides and low tides. bays and open ocean.

1st day, the jetty and the end of dunes road. threw the bag at it, not a touch.

2nd tried the open ocean. At low tide I saw birds diving . but it was way out. I waited and they never came close. I figured that at high tide they'll come closer but it didn't happen. water was cold.

3rd day hit the bridges on the way to Quogue Canal from westhampton. not a touch.

4th day tried the open beaches at high tide, used a rubber rigged eel, I retrieved it very slow along the surf but it did not produce.

AT the outgoing tide, I saw clams on the wash, so I opened some up and tried. nothing.

I can see how this beach can be very productive with the right water temps, sand bars and little cove here and there makes this beach very attractive for baits.

well, all in all a good try, I had a lot of practice on the casting. I needed a bit of practice on my vs250/11'lami combo. I think I improved 10 to 15 feet more in my casting. You always get something for trying.

I will try fishing this weekend at jones' we2 and the backbay. will report soon.

see ya out there..
