Worked the Bay Thusday afternoon with a lot of chum for just two flatties. Beautiful afternoon, the weather was perfect. A number of boats were in the area. Very slow pick but the fish were large, very fat and their stomacks were bulging. 17 & 15". They are heavy on the feed there's just not a lot of them. Water temp was 50. Great to be on the water again.

I fished the flag pole in OB for a few hours. Decent results although only about 1:5 keeper/short ratio. Seems like we had the oposite day that you had, decent amount of fish but not much size to them. Constant heavy chumming was needed, once we slowed so did the bite.

Yeah, chumming is the ticket! Real nice fish in the bay though. The Island Current was there as well, they had fish over two pounds. Weather permitting I'll be back there on Sunday. Say hello liJRtt
if you sail by. John

colder weather this weekend and rain should put off whatever bite there has been...we need a solid shot of 60 degree weather to get the fish that are around to get going...going to fish raritan tomorrow depending on how bad the rain is going to be, will let everybody know how we make out

Fished Sunday in Raritan. Wanted to fish Saturday, but the weatherman scared us off...turns out Sat was probably the better of the two days....we had 20 fish to a little over 2lbs on worms and mussel for 3 guys fishing a half day. We probably could have picked another 10 fish or so, but we wanted to do a little blackfishing on the way back...the old adage of never leaving fish to find fish held true...no blackfish on the rockaway reef but did manage to get lucky and catch two keeper cod....will post pics when I get them up...there was easily 200 boats within 2 miles of where we were fishing Sunday...whats left of the flounder taking a beating

Fishing a few hundred yards in front a well known Nor?easter?s residence ;),
Troller and I caught a half dozen nice keepers on Saturday.

We chummed with corn and fresh mussels in 51 degree water.
Breeze was SE, 10-15Kts.
The flatties preferred mussels over sand worms.

Finally a break in the weather??????????.

????so took another shot at the flatties with the BFishing family.

Water temp 53F and breeze was variable at < 10 kts.
We fished the outgoing tide with fresh mussels and sands at the same spot that we had them two weeks ago.

Maybe it was because we forgot the corn,
but no flounder were caught.
Excitement for the day was when this rogue bulldog grabbed the mussel on the lite rod that Bret was fishing and
started peeling line on the loosely set drag.

around and around the chum pot line.

Finally after a short Chinese fire drill was performed we managed to land a large blackfish.
my slightly biased estimate was 26? long and around 12 pounds.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :):):):) :)

We noted that the date was May 4 and released the beast.
