I have a 2000 250hp Yamaha ox66 EFI on 23'.
She was giving me 2.5MPG at around 30mph and 4000rpm.
I wanted to change out the filter so while I did that, I ran some Seafoam.
A 1/4 of the can in my oil tank and half of what was left into my old fuel filter. Ran that after I had warmed up my motor. Watched as she blew a white smoke cloud for a 10-15min. Repeated with what was left of the SeaFoam. Let it smoke for 20min. Pull up my anchor and ran her for a good thirty min up and down the river. I was seeing some unbelievable numbers.

Went away for a week and came back and was still a bit doubtful about the numbers. Went tot he boat last night and ran her for a good 30-45 mins. Here are some shots of the gauges...

This is at cruise...

You can see the Lowrance fuel gauge showing 4MPG, the Yammy tach at 4000rpm and on the top left corner you can see my gps speed, 28mpg . I was going against the Hudson current. Something kicked up my ducer so, no the depth isn't accurate. :)

Here's shot of her at WOT...

I'm doing better at WOT throttle than I did at cruise before I ran SeaFoam.

What is this "Seafoam"

Seafoam breaks up carbon.

Most beneficial to the older generation outboards that used tons of oil. Excessive carbon can lead to engine failure from sticking piston rings.

You have to be careful with it when you use it. I would not add it to an oil tank. Seafoam has no lubricating properties. You have to follow directions carefully.

Some manufacturers say not to use it.

If using it more than doubled your mileage, it would be on the front of the newspaper.

What did you see or read about that made you put it in you oil resevoir? That is going to change ever so slightly the oil mix your engine recieves. I'd be concerned about that.

I checked out their website, and it said it's a 100% petroleum product that has "lubricity". Seems like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread for boats.

Well, I've been getting alot of "no way" threads on aboat forum. I'm gonna wait till I get my next fill up to say anything more about my gas milage.

I added a bit to my oil tank with a lot of oil in it to help clean out the oil passages. No harm done. I poured some in my car oil tank and I believe it got alot of gunk out of it at oil change aftret hat that.

Now I really don't know what to think till I fill up again. I hope my gauge isn't messed up. LoL...

and no I don't own stock in this company and I've never seen it for sale on TV. I wouldn't pay over $30. It was $14 on Amazon.com.

NAPA sells it guys, right on the shelf, nothing new, this stuff has been around for a very long time. I am surprised Baywatch didn't know of it, you seem to have been around from reading your posts all this time. It breaks up carbon, cleans the combustion chamber, that is all it does. Same as Ring-Free but does it in one shot instead of keeping it clean all along the way. Ring-Free is a better product to use long term because you don't give your rings a chance to start sticking from excessive carbon buildup, which is very dangerous for the motor to allow to happen. Newer motors with injection sipping oil with ratios ranging from 200 to 1 at idle to 50 to 1 at full throttle only have no need for Seafoam, personally I don't even use Ring-Free with the new motors, no need. It is the older motors that we dump 50 to 1 of premix down the carb throats, choking the motor at idle with that fat/heavy fuel/oil ratio that enables the carbon to build up big time.

You are not supposed to dump Seafoam in your oil tank. It is a shock treatment to be used on a portable fuel tank, then spary directly into cylinders, let it soak to break up carbon, burn it out, change the plugs and good to go.

If you do not have an old carb'd bomb using premix, forget about Seafoam.

No TV infomercials.

It is used by many in my area in Fl. The mechanic said to add it to the GAS. It cleared up all the stumbling and starting problems on my twin 1995 carb'd 150 Mecs. It is available at all the major lawn repair shops.
I didn't note any mileage increase, I'm sure that there was some since the top end went back to normal.

Crazy? SEAFOAM? Why all the disbelievers?

I found something that increases the 2.75 gpm that my twin 140 Zukes get at cruise, to well over 50 times that! Yes, that's right! Over 50 (FIFTY) times that!!!!!!!

Problem is that it doesn't increase the mileage all the time, only intermittently. It's something I found when I first bought my boat and I stumbled upon it accidentally.

It called "IG-NISHUN-OFF".

I turn my ignition off whenever I drift. Unbelievable increase in fuel economy! My FLOSCANS hardly move, that's how little fuel I use when I use that "IG-NISHUN-OFF". Very cheap to use also!

Sometimes I just stick with what works for me. But that happens when you have been around a while...LOL!!

One tip I did learn on those older Yammies (250's) is keep the plug gap at a tight 0035. You would be surprised how clean you will burn.;)
