Weather Channels on VHF

Hi all,

I have what I hope to be a simple question. I boat out of FI Inlet and was wondering what is the difference between the weather channels on the VHF. You know the WX band. Someone once told me they are speciffic to speciffic regions. So do any of you people know which channel I would want to listen to for South Shore LI weather warnings?

Thanks,

somoan

The weather on the wx button all come from NOAA, after you push wx, go to 1 thru 5, to get the best reception. They usually cover NY to NC.
Some of the NOAA Weather Radio Frequencies that you may hear on Long Island.

WX1 162.550 New York City, New London
WX2 162.400 Meriden CT, Atlantic City
WX3 162.475 Riverhead, Hartford
