Hello all, this thread is more of a question than anything. Are there any weakfish to be had in the surf in march, and if so, any suggestions on what bait or lures would be great. I am speaking mostly of the south shore beaches--like jones or point lookout or lido, thanks all for your help.

Weakfish spawn in May. Both in Great South Bay and Peconic Bay. Getting to the bays obviously requires the fish to pass by our beaches. Although they may not come within casting distance. I don't know of anyone who targets them in March. I don't even recall any reports on them being caught in March. However the Shinne**** Canal always seems to produce some fish in April. As do the bridges near Captree. Good Luck
