My first day in the surf in '08 and I must say, you forget about the particular muscles involved until you make that first long cast. I am sure that it seems impossible that you can take a whole winter off and on your first cast feel like you pulled a calf muscle?!
But I digress. Arrived at 2:30PM for 90 minutes of throwing first a leadhead in red and white with last fall's pork rind (no hits), then a kastmaster with no feather or tube (one hit, missed it) and then, remembering that when you cast off Jones you always want a little tail, I switched to a kastmaster with a red tube and had two more hits. The second hit was a blue that threw the hook within 10 feet of the frying pan and was maybe 6 to 7 lbs and the last one, a 5 pounder, came home for dinner.
Very little weed as I brought most of it in, the water seems really warm already and it was a great if rainy day to kick off the season.
