They're back!!!!!!! A few commercial buddies told me about some Striper activity near some of their gear and that was enough to get me out. Glad I went. Of course this report may come into question w/o pics, but who the **** expects to catch Bass on the East End this early in the year. So no camera w/ me on the trip. This is a full three weeks ahead of the first fish I got last year and so I thought I would just be scoping out structure and casting around. I always have the best days when I have the lowest expectations!
4 Schoolies (19", 16", 24", 20.5")on 1/8oz & 1/4oz chartreuse bucktails. Just bumping slowly along the bottom reeling enough to avoid raking up the seaweed.Almost went over to the popper but didn't want to spoil a good thing and I thought the fish might be too lethargic. Got all four in about first 20 minutes and then nothing for two hours. Tide was creeping out against the wind.
This is the earliest Bass I have ever caught. FYI - tons of lethargic spearing around.
Wife is pissed that she lost me until 12/15/08 three weeks early this year.
