I want to purchase bootfoot waders to use for surf fishing on the south and north shore this spring . Will the 3.5 neoprenes be good, what foot insulation?200, 400, 600 thinsulate?
Thanks for the help.

Ditto what he said. My right boot cracked on top where it creases when you bend your foot to kneel on your left knee (to unhook a fish). A little AquaSeal fixed it but it still sucked to happen in the first season. I like the neo's but wont get Red Balls again.
maybe Hodgemans or even Cabelas.

Don't waste your money on Redballs.

I find that LL Bean or Cabelas sells neoprenes that are reasonably priced and both companys are pretty good about taking care of you should you have a problem......but I don't think you will have a problem.
One thing to consider.....Neoprenes are good for only a very short part of our season....the very begginning and the very end when it can be quite cold.....however for the bulk of our season....say from may thru october....they are too warm.
I find breathables or even feather weight pvc type waders to be much more comfortable even during the colder ends of the season with a pair of fleece pants and appropriate socks worn underneath.
just my opinion:)

I got the Hodgeman 3.5 mm neoprenes

And I wear them all year, they are thin enough for me in the warmer times and when its colder I can always put on seal skins under the boot foot. L L Bean, and Orvis are good about exchanging defective (leaky) waders.
Good Luck!, You seem to be buying lots of gear.

Cabela's The Warmest & Most Comfortable!

I spent plenty of time researching, & believe me Cabela's 5mm neoprenes are the way to go (about $120.00)! I work outdoors in the winter working in the construction field, my waders are warmer than my Charhart Arctic overalls I use to work outside with. However I don't overheat in them even if it's not to cold out. There not heavy either. Cabela's also gives you the option of getting Lug or Felt soles to suit your application. Either way the boots are Thinsulated (200 grams),& very comfortable. They have double layered knees & a large chest pocket which come in very "handy". When it gets "REEL COLD" I wear a heavy fleece sweatsuit under the waders, and top it off with a "KOBUK'S" 5mm neoprene jacket which is the envy of every surfcaster I come across on the windy beach, or in the rip-roaring surf! This jacket is waist-high, has 2 large "handy" side pockets, a built-in adjustable waist belt, a large detachable neoprene hood & a high built-in collar. This "KOBUK" jacket is available (about $75.00) from "Fisherman's Headquarters" in New Jersey. P.S. DON'T FORGET TO WEAR A WADING BELT... SAFETY FIRST!!! In case your wondering, I'm not a salesman... just a very happy, hard-core surf-rat... tight lines from.............. Louie the Lure!!!
