Hi Guy's sorry for the late report, but still packing our fish away
. Left Montauk about 1:30 Monday afternoon. Started off fluke fishing as we needed fresh fluke strips for Tile bait. By 5:30 we had plenty of fluke for strip bait and we headed offshore. The plan was to hit some wrecks for cod on Tuesday then head off to the Tile grounds. Well,we pounded the Cod on Tuesday. We had Cod up to 38+ pounds. Diane and i wound up with 25 cod up to about 20 lbs plus i landed the only Pollack which was about 27 pounds which wound up winning the "edible only pool ($410.00)"
. All totaled the boat had about 350 - 400 Cod by 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon. We then went to the Tile grounds. We picked away at a few Tiles until it got too dark then we called it a night. We hit the Tile fish on Wednesday. By the end of the Day Diane and i had 12 Tiles up to 38 lbs. Yes Diane had the 38 lb fish which wound up being a perfect tie with another 38 lb Tile so they split the Tile Pool (another $210.00 for us). We hit a few wrecks and Tile grounds on Thursday where i picked up 2 30lb+ Tiles and an 18 lb Wreckfish along with a few Cod and Pollack. When all was said and done Diane and i wound up with exactly 49 fisn, including 3 Tiles over 32 lbs. Clams and Fluke strips seemed to be the right ticket. Will try to post Pics on Sunday. Hope this helps you out. We had perfect weather conditions on all three days

Abyss Trip

The Cod were all on Clams. Even the pool winning Pollack (mine:tu:) was taken on clams. Very little action on jigs. For Cod we got away with 14-16 oz sinkers. For tile we used 24 oz to 2 lb. Agan, all of our Tile were taken on clams tipped with fluke belly
. Some people did get a few Tiles on squid tipped with fluke belly. But we got all ours on Clams tipped with fluke strips. I'll try to post some pics by Sunday. Even got my Wreckfish on Clams.

Great looking pictures John. Is that Mr. Happy with an electric reel? Where did those rod holders come from? I bought one for my next trip but not nearly as long as the one in the picture. Again, congratulations on a great trip.

Dennis

PS Did you buy electric reels?

Hi Dennis

Yes we bought Electrics, actually Diane got hers last year. I just purchased mine a few weeks ago, and for this type of fishing i love it. The rod holders i had made for me. Mr happy had a good trip as well, but not as good as we did
