Marine (VHF) radios are illegal except on boats.

CB is next to useless on the beach, unless you have a "buddy" you wish to stay in touch with.

Ditto GMRS and FRS.

That being said, you will get the most information LISTENING to a VHF. Walkie-talkies are cheap!

NOTHING will be as good as you imagine, save your money!

How do you like the hand held?I heard the range is only 2 miles,is this true? Was considering one,We used to have a standered VHF in the camper,& I would get to shag when the call came in, before the flock came running.

Illegal,Then I guess alot of guy's in tauk should have a thousand & one tickets by know.LOL.I know the deal to well for games,I would be the first to give a fish call,in a heart beat.
Thanxs guy's for the info, see ya out there!!!!!!!!!

Just curious: I've seen a lot of tackle shops and bait stations on or near the water that appear to have a VHF. Are they doing something they shouldn't be? Or is ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship allowed, just not shore-to-shore?
