Skid,
The shakespeare 5225XT is a terrific 8 foot vhf
antenna, with a price tag of $99.99 that will
not break the bank and will get the job done.

Keep in mind it's not the outside fiberglass that makes the antenna work it's the internal wire. You probably already know this though. A nice shiny new antenna is always nice.

Get the digital like the other post say. The difference is that the inside of the antenna is copper all the way up compared to coax with a little piece of copper sticking out to the top. They will have them at the boat shows and that will probably be your best deal.

Thanks to all of you for the great advice.;)

Moody Blues,
There is nothing wrong internally, but the polyurethane coating has warn off and the fiberglass looks like it needs a haircut. :) :) :)

Does anyone know if I can coat it, and if so what should I use?
