On Sunday, June 8, at about 10:00 AM, while fishing south of Jones Inlet I heard the Coast Gaurd announce an urgent marine information broadcast for a vessel taking on water at the San Diego wreck. I didn't hear any more information after that. I never heard the CG cancell Pan Pan either.

Did anyone else hear this call or heard of any details? Seems as though there were lots of other distress calls Sunday as well.

No way that was the same boat. I heard this on Sunday. That boat off Moriches was on Friday. Moriches is several miles east of the USS San Diego.

I also heard several other CG alerts of distress calls. Vessel on fire in Mount Saini, another taking on water off Bay Shore. Busy Sunday for those guys.

I changed the date of the other sinking to Friday. I originally mis stated it as Thursday

How did they spell it?

Not the first technical glitch I have seen. They get a lot of stuff with the engines wrong. When Phils boat broke down again, they showed a picture of a warning light that was for a clogged air filter or something. The anouncer said the boat was over heating.

They spelled it Pon Pon Pon. Just like it should be pronounced but those Hollywood types are clueless.

A friend with the E. Islip FD said they responded to a 35ft boat Sunday outside the FI inlet. Couple on board with a 2 yr old, & Boat wouldn't start.. Said they were Ok, just a bit shaken up from the storm & wound up being towed in.. I guess they never checked the weather before heading out..
