i own a vs 250 and fish the **** out of it !!, i sent it in for its yearly tune up, and three weeks later i got it back all polished up and running like a tiger. they did an excellent job for $ 35 bucks!!. all the stripers and blues did a number on the reel. the vs people re-packed it with grease, re-placed the o rings and even gave me a new drag clicker( i think thats what its called?) i hear a lot of people on this board bad mouthing the reel because of the price and other garbage. i have nothing but good things to say about the company. i own many many reels and this by far is my favorite for the salt.if your passionate about fishing like i am then price means nothing . if anyone is thinking about buying a vs go ahead and enjoy, il see you in the surf with the gold on!!

mattyblaser, you might be right?it could be avitation oil, but it looks like grease, they seem to use two type's one is a red grease wich is in the drag knob, handel,and spool, but if you look at the shaft that goes in the reel it has a opaque grease?. anyway i love them, the stellas aren't too bad either.
