chutes

Hey Capt

I use chutes all the time around chatham, ma and the tide rips east of nantucket. I always use wire line as it is the only way I was taught. But dont shy from wire, I use 40 lb wire and it is very easy to use and lightweight. Some guys I know, especially the ones who commercial fish alot for bass use up to 100 lb wire! But I like 40 and with a well made cute jig of 4oz's or so it is a great way to take stripers. i also like to tip it with an Uncle Josh saltwater porkrind.

On the bayside, they use sparsely tied jigs and never chutes. there they are running the jigs on the bottom thru the sand and rocks and they do very well. East of Nantucket it is more mid water fishing. i like to keep my jigs in the bottom 1/3 of the water column.

Dont shy from wire, it is great stuff if done right!
