when out of jones inlet today and headed east to fish the fingers east of the virginia. Water temperature was 62 degrees...As soon as we put the chum bag in we had dogfish around the boat and they were taking the baits out of are hands as we put them in. We tried to fight the dogs off for an hour then started trolling. We trolled from the fingers to the rockpiles and had no hits. Started fishing at the rockpiles and the dog fish were up again in less then 5 minutes. Then stopped at the yankee on are way back home and trolled for another hour and got one bluefish. Heard on the radio from chicken canyon out to shine**** the dogfish were from 20 fathoms out to 40 fathoms and everyone was just tryin to sight fish..and didn't here of any sharks bein seen or caught

Sharking 6/8

Started off in 25fa SW of Montauk near the weather bouy. So many doggies had to run for deeper water. They were literally swarming the boat. Many times at least a dozen were in view.

Set up again in almost 40fa south of the Butterfish hole. A bit better but sill couldn't keep anything other than a livie in the water for more than 30 minutes. They even took whole dead bluefish and turned them into a head and spine in no time at all.

Dog days...

Fished yesterday with just myself and my mate on board to work off the cob webs. Set up about twenty miles south east of Shinne****. Water was 60-61, a little cold. Can't remember last time I have seen the swarms of dog fish that we saw yesterday. Other than that we didn't see a thing. After about an hour we pulled all the baits and planned on sight fishing the rest of the day. Really wish we had run out to the warm water around the Hudson looking for some bluefin, but we decided to stay close due the possiblity of thunder storms in the afternoon. The ocean was calm all day though...

SOON VERY SOON

we need one more full week of this weather coupled with good offshore water to be prime. I feel that the Hudson Angler contest out of Freeport will have good action, followed by the Feeport Woodcleft Contest which should really be prime.
Sailing to South Jersey it looks like a great weather week.

Bass fishing this morning- 25 ft of water right off field 6 Jones beach- birds working, bunker splashing- we just drifting along and a thresher comes swimming along- about 4 ft in length (not including the tale) looked at the boat and was gone- we started chumming for the **** of it to have a little fun looking to smoke the drags on an avet/trevala set up... I could see people swimming in the water.... he was gone....
