Flotilla 13-06, U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is presenting an advanced course
for recreational boaters and fishermen. The course is Advanced Coastal
Navigation. This course involves 32 hours of intensive classroom work with
homework and a two part final examination. Any boater who successfully
completes this course will be able to perform dead reckoning navigation using
paper charts, navigation tools, and available electronic gear. This is the
same course that members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary must take in order to
qualify as Navigation Specialists. In fact, members will be taking the
course with you.

The course will be conducted over four (4) consecutive Saturdays, beginning
Saturday April 27, 2002 at 0830. The course will be given at Nassau
Community College. The cost for the course is $150.00. This includes
textbook, workbook, Weems and Plath NavPak navigation tool set, maneuvering
boards, training chart and classroom fees. Attendance is limited to 20
students. Students will be accepted on a first come first served basis. For
enrollment information, please call Pete Seidel at (516) 384-7827.
