Hipshot,
they do sell a rig that looks like an umbrella but it has chains of artificial ballhoos on them,they use it as a teaser.It is wieghted and swims below the surface.A regular umbrella might not work,the speed of 7-8 knots might make it rise to the surface and tumble.Spreader bars should really be fished off of outriggers.
