If I just recieved my license last summer (50T Master), do I still have to appear in-person at an enrollment center for fingerprinting? I believe it said in the recent issue of InTheBite that if you recieved or renewed your license in the last 12 months you dont have to be re-fingerprinted, and therefore not go to an enrollment center; you can just do it online.

Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks in advance

yes you do. you have to make an appointment online. i was only able to make an appt in the place in new jersey a few miles north of the lincoln tunnel when i booked it in mid-march. the offices in the city are booked until forever. those are the closest ones to long island. or at least were when i did it last month.

and the other thing that is a pita is that you have to go back to the same office in person when it is ready to be picked up so they can scan your fingerprints and make sure you are who you were when you were finger printed when you paid your money and visited them the first time. they will not let you go to a different office which is weird since the stuff is all in a national computer system.

it only takes 15 minutes to do it but it takes a bit to get there and back. and i went in mid-april and 6 weeks later they are still "processing" mine.
